Yoga is said to have originated in India about 26,000 years ago. Translated from Sanskrit (the ancient language of India), the word yoga means “to control”, “to yoke”, or “to unite”. The union is between the self and the spirit. I know this can sound deep to some of us, and it is, but the more that I delve into my yoga journey, the more I realize and the more I want to learn.
People look to try yoga for many reasons. Some are drawn to the hot power Vinyasa class for the amazing workout that it brings, while others are considering a meditation practice to become more centered and relaxed. Maybe your doctor has told you to give it a try, but you don’t know where to start. Or, maybe you're nervous to because the pictures you see online are intimidating, with beautiful people in seemingly impossible poses. Whatever your reason for starting a yoga practice… Welcome! If you are like me, you will have questions upon questions, but together, we can help you find your path.
